Education is one of the most important things that every man should have. It is an essential thing that we need to survive in this huge planet. And better educations means better people. And that’s why Lopez Family invested a lot, not in commercial business, but in building a better educational institution for the people.

Lopez made its first donation to Asian Institute of Management in 1968 through Eugenio Lopez Foundation Inc, led by Mr. Eugenio Lopez. From doing school stuffs up to different blogging networks and earning more money online, this week’s What’s Up post is really awesome. Here’s the update.

Right now, me and my classmates just had the first two weeks of the first semester for school year 2010-2011. It was just the usual thing – boring but fun. There’s no new classmate except those irregular students having classes with our section. And so far, our professors looks really good. They teach very well, especially our professors in Differential Equations Engineering Mechanics (ok, our professor in Engineering Mechanics talks softly which makes you really sleepy but he’s so good, I understand all his lessons).

Different blogging networks? Yes, people. I am currently writing in different blogs right now – not my own blogs. You may notice that some of my blogs right now are not yet updated because I am focusing big time on these blogs because they are really great. I just earned “a lot of money” (for me it’s a huge money) with these blogs.

I’m busy. But I will always update this blog because this blog made me a better blogger and gave me different opportunities.

Did you know that the number of cars on the planet is increasing three times faster than the population growth? This only means that, the fuel needs of these massive number of cars in our planet is increasing too. But we all know that there’s a time that someday, fuel will be no more. And with that, you’ll always save money because you chose a car which consumes the right amount of fuel, unlike other cars that consumes fuel badly.

Here’s the exciting part. Everyone who joins the competition gets a premium item from Shell. May has been a very busy month for me as a blogger. I created another blog, but I don’t want to announce it yet (yeah, I want to keep it a secret blog but if you find it, it’s okay). I created another blog where I can practice my SEO skills. Yes people, I am now doing some SEO stuffs. I do this not because I am bored with creativity stuffs, but because I need it. I think, a blogger like me who has no job (I’m still a student) and no source of money to pay for web hosting fees and domain name fees really needs to do SEO things to make some money online. So, I created that blog. And as of now, I have three blogs, this blog, the Blasting Mind and the secret one.

New Beginning and an End. Here in the Philippines, summer is over, meaning, two-month school vacation is over – and that really means, parties, hang-outs and all those good times are over. There are so many things happened to me this summer and I really liked it. And I should now look forward for another beginning, I am a third year college student now! I’m officially a Junior college student, a Junior Civil Engineering Student! And I am a bit excited and of course, nervous about the monster major subjects that we will take up this coming semester. But I say, good luck to me!

Did you notice that there’s no more major earthquake news appearing in current news? (Or I am just a complete always-in-front-of-computer guy that didn’t watch TV news and missed anything?) Well, I am really glad that I didn’t hear any bad news about natural disasters like earthquakes and volcano eruptions anymore because these past months, there are several earthquakes that hit different major cities across the globe right? Thank God.

Choosing the right Presidential Candidate s a real tough task. But fortunately, GMA Network helped us to do this task. The Kandidato – a special TV episode by GMA Network which features the Presidentiables of the Philippine Elections 2010 for TV’s toughest job interview. In this TV show, the candidates running for Philippine presidency got the toughest questions from Howie Severion, Arnold Clavio and Malou Mangahas on their platforms and issues.

I’ve watched the special TV episode. Manny Villar – the one who said that it’s not impossible to solve the issue in ending poverty – took the job interview, I am very impressed with him about what he said about the issue regarding the land reform and the farmers. He said that the right thing to do with it is to solve this issue, and after solving the issue, the job won’t end there. The government should still support the farmers for better irrigation, better facilities and more. I am impressed because some of my relatives have their own rice farms. They plant rice for living, and I can see that they really need more support from the government, especially when natural calamities struck the farmlands. But if  you don’t like Manny Villar, I suggest reading the ten reasons to vote for Manny Villar.

The job interview Kandidato was great and really helped me in choosing the right person to vote. There are some people who watched the show said that the TV hosts were biased. But, I think, they’re not. I believe that these media personalities are great person and they know what they’re doing and the right thing to do.

You know “Dilis“, right? It’s a tiny fish that can only be found here in the waters of the Philippines. And most probably, you’ve eaten a dish made from Dilis. Dilis is one of the favorite dishes of the Filipinos because of its taste and size. It has been in the Filipino culture for decades. But right now, our favorite tiny fish is in danger.

Dilis and 28 other Philippine fish species are now considered as endangered. A study, published as “Red List: Status of Marine Endemic Teleosts (Bony Fishes) of the Philippines”, was released recently. It is all about the 29 endangered fish species (including the Dilis) written by prominent biologists Dr. Kent Carpenter, Moonyeen Nida Alava, Mike Joshua Palomar, Dr. Beth Polidoro and environmental lawyer Rodolfo Ferdinand Quicho Jr. The book states the problem in our marine life that threatens these 29 bony fishes that may soon become extinct.

Red List shows the level of threat to survival for those endangered fishes. The study also shows that most of those fishes can be found on the shallow areas of the Philippine waters. And worst, some of those bony fishes were last recorded over 50 up to 100 years ago, which means some of them are already extinct because of the very small data gathered and the high risk of extinction.

Atty. Rodolfo Ferdinand Quicho Jr. said “The world has changed and is changing so much due to climate change. Our biodiversity is among our most important assets to ensure our resilience amidst these changes. We must start with our endemics because they are the most significant indicators of our environmental health, thus, our capacity to adapt to climate change.”

The Red List book only showed that we must move now and start protecting our own natural resources. We are responsible for this. Our huge marine biodiversity is one of the most beautiful in the world and if we will not protect it, our lives too can be endangered. Be concerned.

What’s up with me?

Right now, I am enjoying the summer vacation (yes people, it’s already summer here in the tropicos). I am free (almost) to do anything I want, like attending parties, going to the mall and staying awake late at night (where I do most of my online stuffs).

I am happy. Of course, I have two months to relax and keep myself away from stressing school stuffs. I have two months to focus on improving my blog skills. And I have two months to have fun! Well, you know, the benefits of being a teen. Hehe.

Anyway, right now, my plans this summer vacation are to try to re-design this blog (because I have some things that I want to add on my blog but I can’t because of the limitations of my current layout) and to write my very own eBook. Yes, an eBook. I want to write an eBook about the goodness of combining photography and design as your niche in blogging. As of now, I’m done writing the first page. Ha-ha-ha.

What’s up with the whole world?

I am really amazed with the new Apple iPad which was released this month. It’s a cool device perfect for bloggers and I want one. And the new iPhone OS 4.0 which was announced last April 8 that will update the Apple iPhone and iPod touch OS. And I am excited to get the update because the OS update will support multitasking!

The rise of 3D TVs is here! 3D experience in cinemas is amazing, what more if you’ll bring it to your home? I am really excited to watch my favorite TV shows in 3D. But first, I hope Philippine TV networks will start producing their shows in 3D before we can fully use 3D TVs.

I am a Globe user since I got my first cellphone. So that means I’ve been using Globe for over six years! And I only changed my SIM card thrice – all from Globe.

Why am I still using Globe? Because I like their services, and all my friends, my family, all of them are Globe users too. The start of year 2010 for Dubai is awesome. Yesterday, January 4, 2010, the tallest building on Earth (as of now) has been unveiled. The Burj Dubai (now Burj Khalifa) has 160 floors, measures 828 m or 2,717 ft and costs $1.5 billion. It is indeed one of the most ambitious projects of mankind and fortunately turned in to a great success.

The opening ceremony held in front of the tallest building in the whole world is so amazing. The fireworks, the lights, the fountains. I wish I was there.

The Burj Dubai or Burj Khalifa is indeed one of the newest and greatest work of mankind. Dubai just proved again that, even they are in the middle of sand, and recently hit by an economic crisis, they can still be the center of attraction in the world.

I hope that someday, this happens to our beloved Philippines, too. I hope that someday, we will be more proud of our country.
