Did you know that the number of cars on the planet is increasing three times faster than the population growth? This only means that, the fuel needs of these massive number of cars in our planet is increasing too. But we all know that there’s a time that someday, fuel will be no more. And that’s why, we need to learn to minimize our daily fuel consumption.

And this month, Pilipinas Shell, one of the leading fuel companies on our country, is having an event dubbed as “Are You the Philippines’ Smartest Driver?”. This event/competition aims to help and teach our fellow Filipinos to learn how to minimize fuel consumption, to save money and of course, to save our mother nature. This competition is looking for Philippines’ Smartest Drivers – the one who has the knowledge of minimizing fuel consumption, can get the most out of every drop and the grand list of fuel saving tips on his mind. Everyone with a valid driver’s license is invited to join this competition (as of now, I’m thinking of joining this!).

Here’s how to join “Are You the Philippines’ Smartest Driver?”

You need to shoot a video detailing how your driving techniques minimize your fuel consumption. You can also add some fuel saving tips. For me, one of the best fuel saving tips is choosing the best car that consumes fuel efficiently. Just like when we bought our first car. It was Isuzu Sportivo.When we were choosing the right car that time, we always look for the right vehicle that can minimize fuel consumption. And with that, you’ll always save money because you chose a car which consumes the right amount of fuel, unlike other cars that consumes fuel badly.

At the end of your video, complete it with the catch phrase “Ang Pinoy na matipid sa gasolina, _________.” If you’re done with the video, simply upload it to http://www.topgear.com.ph/shellsmartestdrivers.

Here’s the exciting part. Everyone who joins the competition gets a premium item from Shell. Then, ten finalists will be awarded Php 10,000 worth of Shell fuel vouchers and will get an invite to a fuel economy boot camp which will be held this June 26. The ten finalists will go through a driving challenge and the two most fuel efficient drivers will be the winner and will get a chance to win more prices (like a fuel efficient card) in the first ever Shell Eco-Marathon Asia in Malaysia.

The submission of entries started last May 20 and will end this coming June 20.
