Filipinos, It’s Your Time to Shine via MTV Emerge

Filipino talent is indeed world class. Many Filipinos today are conquering the international spotlight and spreading the heart of Filipino culture. Should I mention names? Ok. We have, Arnel Pineda (the lead vocalist of the famous band, Journey), Charice Pempengco (the emerging child star with great voice), Vanessa Hudgens (of High School Musical), Nicole Scherzinger (of Pussycat Dolls), Apl.de.Ap (of the Black Eyed Peas) and more.

These Filipino celebrities have already captured the international stage, but how about the other Filipinos in the island that also have the abilities to rock the music world? M-T-V-E-merge is the answer. Yeah.

MTV Emerge is the newest talent-search here in the Philippines. Trying to search for the purest Filipino voices that can let the limelight spot on them. This huge project was powered by MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration which will assure us that this project will be a success.

First, why you should join?

Participants from any music genre are encouraged to register and upload their profiles, photos and original music on the MTV Emerge site during the contest submission period. All entries will go through a public voting process. After which, a total of seven grand winners will be selected from the top entries on November 20 by a panel of judges including Apl.de.Ap, founder of Jeepney Music and Black Eyed Peas member.

The seven grand winners of MTV Emerge will win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music and mentorship under Apl.de.Ap. The contract includes artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3 – 6 songs and a strategic marketing plan for the signed artists to break into both the Philippines and international markets.

Next, you’re an aspiring singer with the talents? I am encouraging you to sign up and upload your music and profiles on MTV Emerge. This is a great hunting-grounds for the fresh music from the Philippines, and actually, now featuring hundreds and hundreds of entries! Cool, now I can say that judging this contest is no joke.

Yeah, I saw the entries and love them. Most of the entries are in Rock genre and really good. But of course, only one entry emerged in my heart, the song “Here by Faircatch“. It is a Rock song that is really good. You, vote too! So you can have the chance to see (and vote) the future international celebrities!
